Host a sleepover with an adoptable dog or cat: Snuggling encouraged!
Volunteer shifts must be scheduled as far in advance as possible. Each animal area has a maximum number of volunteers it can accommodate during each shift. To get started, please visit volunteers.bestfriends.org or contact the Sanctuary Volunteer Department at volunteers@bestfriends.org or 435-319-0622.
We truly appreciate the wonderful work our volunteers do towards making a difference in the animals' lives and would love to welcome you as a volunteer.
Planning a visit to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary? Give an adoptable pet some one-on-one time by hosting a sleepover at your pet-friendly accommodations.
What does a sleepover involve? You share your cabin, cottage, hotel room or short-term rental with a Sanctuary dog or cat overnight. You get to spend some time snuggling with a wonderful, very appreciative pet. And it gives an adoptable pet the chance to experience life away from the Sanctuary, and your feedback can provide insight on how they are in a home environment which is valuable information for potential adopters - it's a win-win.
Requirements to host a pet overnight:
- You or a member of your party must first volunteer for a shift in the animal care area where your intended sleepover guest resides. You can make sleepover arrangements with the volunteer coordinator of that area.
- If you are staying in a hotel or short-term rental, check in advance to make sure they allow dogs or cats
- You must not be traveling with your personal pets
- Staying in a Best Friends cabin or cottage? Have an overnight stay with a dog or cat

Please note: Sleepovers at accommodations in the town may be limited on holidays and select event days due to fireworks and large crowded events that present safety hazards. Sleepover animals are not eligible for patio dining - please make alternate arrangements for meals.
Not able to do a sleepover? Consider an outing with a Sanctuary dog instead.
