Community Voices: Skye Oseguera
Meet Skye Oseguera, a powerful AfroLatina! Skye has been an animal welfare advocate for the past 10 years feeding stray dogs and cats in the community, while also working with various animal welfare organizations to find them homes.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
"I’ve always loved animals, so being able to provide/find a safe place for fur babies in need makes my heart happy."
How does community wisdom play a role in your advocacy and work in animal welfare?
"Within my community in Georgia, there is a lack of concern for animal welfare, especially “bully” breeds, advocacy and education on these breeds are needed. I’ve relied heavily on friends made through social media to get rescued/stray animals a permanent home."
What would you like to see for the future of animal welfare and human well-being?
"I would love to see communities coming together to take care of each other with an open and loving heart. That we work together to protect animals who love us unconditionally and need our support in any way we’re able."
