Acclaimed author and TNR expert Peter J. Wolf joins Best Friends

You may already know Peter as the founder of Vox Felina, a blog featuring in-depth analysis of issues related to free-roaming cats and trap/neuter/return (TNR), and now he's bringing his expertise to help save more community cats (aka feral cats) from coast to coast.
"Peter is one of the most informed individuals on the topic of community cats and the science and policies surrounding community cat issues," said Holly Sizemore, director of national programs for Best Friends Animal Society. "He's a natural fit for us and our work in helping us shape community cat policies and manage successful cat programs nationwide. We are thrilled to welcome Peter to the team."
Since the launch of Vox Felina just three years ago, the site has become a touchstone on the subject of TNR. It is widely used as a reliable reference for journalists, including writers and reporters from national publications, and a resource for community cat advocates.
Peter is also a staple speaker at many animal welfare national conferences, including the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets National Conference, where he shares scientific data to support best practices to keep community cat populations down while keeping cats and people safe and healthy. He also shares his expertise via the petfinder.com blog.
Impacting the lives of community cats in a positive way
"Ultimately, my decision to join Best Friends can be explained with a single word - impact," says Peter. "Vox Felina gave me a voice for speaking out on behalf of community cats, but with my new role at Best Friends, it's like I've just been handed a megaphone."
In addition to his new role as cat initiatives analyst, Peter is a member of the board of directors of FixNation, one of the country's most highly regarded TNR and low-cost spay/neuter clinics.
Peter J. Wolf's education and professional experience
Peter has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in industrial design, and his professional experience is in the areas of acquisition, analysis and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative data. Most recently, Peter served as a lecturer in the Design School at Arizona State University, where he taught courses in product design, visual communication design, design thinking, and qualitative research methods.
Peter may wear many important hats, but his favorite hats are that of guardian to seven cats of his own, foster dad to his three cats-in-waiting, and caregiver to two small colonies of community cats in Phoenix, Arizona, where he resides.
