Letters from home: pet adoption updates
No matter how big or small, young or old, it’s a magical moment when homeless pets find new families to love them. The wagging tails, rumbling purrs and smiling faces are all the proof we need of that. From coast to coast, Best Friends helps thousands of pets find new homes each year, and every adoption is a cause for celebration (and maybe a few happy tears).
We want to share some of that joy with you, so here are a few of the dogs and cats who have recently settled into their new lives with their new favorite people.
Butterball
Sometimes animals are with us for months and other times we have them for less than a day. The latter applied to Butterball, who’s now happily buttering up his adopters alongside his new canine brother, Tommy.
Sofia
When Charity adopted Sofia, she wanted to commemorate it with a glamour shot. Charity had fostered cats for a while, but she never met a cat she bonded with so quickly. And an unforgettable connection deserves an unforgettable social media post. Charity captioned her Instagram photo with this: “I, Duchess Van Tassel of Washington-on-Heights, would like to formally announce my adoption of my former foster ward, Miss Gingerita Olivine Beaverhausen, Lady of Nappington.”
Simon
Things are going great with Simon! He is very affectionate and playful, and he made himself at home right away. He has already bonded with our labradoodle and adult cat. It’s like he was always meant to be a part of our family. He loves to snuggle and climbs up on our shoulders when he wants to be carried around. We love him and we are so grateful to Best Friends for our new family member.
Dusk
Dusk doesn’t do well with other cats, but he adores people. So, it’s not surprising that this outgoing, attention-loving, adventurous cat pawed his way into the hearts of these adopters.
Blueberry
Blueberry (now named Mika) has been such a delight! She’s my little work buddy by day and my teenage daughter’s therapy animal by night. She’s awesome, has a big personality, and is so, so, so cute, to the point of actually being pretty hilarious. We adore her.
Stormy
Stormy poses with her adopters before heading home. Her new people say Stormy (now named Soba) is quite the cuddle bug and she thoroughly enjoys her training sessions and all the attention she’s getting. You could say she has put her Stormy past behind her.
Adrian
When Lily met Adrian, it was obvious that he would be going home with her. Described by his foster caregiver as “the most trusting and affectionate kitten I have ever fostered,” Adrian loves to be held and will put his paws gently on your legs to ask to be picked up.
