7 sweet (and silly) pet adoption updates
No matter how big or small, young or old, it’s a magical moment when homeless pets find new families to love them. The wagging tails, rumbling purrs and smiling faces are all the proof we need of that. From coast to coast, Best Friends Animal Society helps thousands of pets find new homes each year, and every adoption is a cause for celebration (and maybe a few happy tears).
We want to share some of that joy with you, so here are a few of the dogs and cats who have recently settled into their new lives with their new favorite people.
Bluto
Bluto was adopted by his family in 2018, and while he may have a few more gray hairs around his nose these days, he’s too busy enjoying life to notice. In an update from his family, they say:
“Our Bluto boy is still as happy as can be. He loves lounging on the couch and looking out the window at passersby. He has fun romping in the snow and is happiest when we’re all together as a foursome. We love our serious yet totally goofy guy and can’t believe he’ll be turning nine. He's such a wonderful family dog, and we feel so lucky to have him in our lives.”
Tater
Tater’s dream home was one where he could nap all day and cuddle all night. What’s not to love about that? He knows basic cues in both English and French, and his foster person described him as “a perfect boy.” A class of sixth-graders drew pictures and wrote adoption bios for pets at Best Friends, and they illustrated Tater’s specialness so well that it wasn’t long before he was adopted. It’s all naps and cuddles ahead for you, buddy.
Cleopatra
Cleopatra may have a name befitting a queen, but she doesn’t let that go to her head. This little kitten is all about getting up close and personal for kisses and cuddles. So it’s no surprise that she got adopted pretty quickly. She was so happy to be going home with Gevin that she celebrated by showering him with smooches (and there are a lot more to come).
Chase
He's still just a pup, but Chase is as clever as they come. He already knows “sit” and “shake” (with both paws), and he’s eager to learn more. He also loves a rousing game of fetch for as long as his human throwing partner can last. It was obvious to the Davis family right away just how special and smart this precocious pooch was; they knew they had to take him home. You could say that he chased his way right into their hearts.
Cassini
New situations always made Cassini a little anxious, but everyone who met her fell in love with her sweet-as-sugar personality. Obviously, her adoptive family wasn’t immune to her charms. And she is positively blossoming in her new home, according to their update:
“Cassini is doing amazing! We’ve worked on her nervousness a lot, and she now confidently goes to new places like the farmers market, coffee shop patios and the park. We’ve been going paddleboarding, hiking and camping over the summer. She loves lounging in a hammock while we set up camp and riding on the front of a paddleboard. We also discovered that she loves wearing sweaters and T-shirts when at home for an extra level of cozy.”
Archer
Archer is always dressed to impress, looking absolutely dashing in his fancy tuxedo coat and perfectly coiffed mustache. He has all the manners of a distinguished gentleman, and he’s a seasoned traveler to boot, starting life in Salt Lake City before heading across the country to Northwest Arkansas — and even spending some time at a home in the Midwest. So it’s no wonder that Sydney chose the dapper fellow as her new feline family member.
Baymax (and his spatula)
Baymax was surrendered by his family to a local shelter with his favorite toy in the whole wide world: a spatula. While not the most traditional of toys, it brought him endless joy and never failed to get a good laugh from his human friends. When Baymax moved to a Best Friends Lifesaving Center, of course his spatula had to join him. And then, when a family fell in love and decided to adopt the fluffy feline, they were more than happy to take the spatula, too.
