Family sitting at a picnic bench at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary RV park

Best Friends RV sites

The RV sites at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary offer a convenient overnight spot and beautiful views of the red cliffs.

Each of our 18 RV sites comes with a picnic table, 35-foot concrete slab, power, septic, water hookups, and Wi-Fi, making them perfect for both short-term visits and extended stays. Explore nearby hiking trails, and enjoy easy access to three national parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon, and North Rim Grand Canyon) within just a 90-minute drive.

Please note that RVs longer than 21 feet have difficulty maneuvering some of the Sanctuary roads and parking areas, so if your RV is longer than 21 feet, you'll need a car to get around the Sanctuary.

You can browse through our RV site photo galleries to get a closer look at each of our RV sites.

Check-in and checkout

If you have booked an RV site, you are free to go straight to your designated spot after 1 p.m. on the date of your arrival, and we will check you in automatically. Checkout time for the RV site is by noon at the latest. You don’t need to check out at the welcome center, but don’t hesitate to stop by the store for postcards or puppy treats.

If you have a request for a specific site, we will do our best to accommodate you. However, we reserve the right to change your site if necessary.

Directions to RV sites

Once you have made the turn into the Sanctuary and see the sign to the welcome center, you will travel past the entrance to the cabins on the left. You’ll notice the sign for the RV sites on the right. Go through the gate and bear right.

There are small solar lamps at the RV site entrance but no lights or lamps along the path or at the RV pads, so you will need your own flashlight or other light source. RV site numbers 1-8 are located in loop A, and site numbers 9-18 are in loop B.

Booking and cancellation policies

What if my preferred dates are unavailable?
You can check availability at the Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile in Kanab. There are also other RV sites in town. Kanab is only five miles from the Sanctuary.

What is the deposit policy?
A valid credit card is required to guarantee all reservations.

What is the reservation modification policy?
If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, please contact us immediately at lodging@bestfriends.org or 435-644-3400. Please note: A change in the length or dates of your reservation may result in a rate change or additional fees.

What are the policies on cancellation and no-shows?
Cancellations within two days of the arrival date or during a stay, as well as no-shows, will be charged one night’s stay per lodging space. Cancellations within three to 30 days of the arrival date will be charged a $25 fee per lodging space. There is no charge for cancellations made 31 days or more from the arrival date. If you have not arrived by 3 p.m. on the day following your scheduled check-in date, we may release your RV site. No refunds, credits, or transfers will be given following a no-show.

Pet policies

What’s the leash policy at RV sites?
Pets should never be left tethered outside unattended at the RV sites. Due to abundant wildlife in the area and for the safety of your pets and other animals at the Sanctuary, please always keep your pets leashed when outside.

Some of the Sanctuary dogs on sleepovers and in training could become aggressive when approached by an unfamiliar dog. Help these pups-in-training learn to become model citizens. Cats can also go on sleepovers, so you might encounter a feline while out walking.

Amenities and policies

If I stay at one of your RV sites, will I be able to drive my RV around the Sanctuary?
Outside of getting to the designated RV site, you will not be able to drive your RV around the Sanctuary. Most parts of the Sanctuary do not have adequate parking to accommodate RVs, and many of the roads are narrow and winding. (There is RV parking available at the welcome center, however.) You’ll need another vehicle if you plan to drive around the Sanctuary.

What amenities are included at RV sites?

Amenities include: 50/30 amp, 110/220-volt electricity, water hookup (except from November 1 through March 15), sewer hookup, picnic table, and a 35-foot level concrete platform.

Most of the RV sites require guests to pull in or back in, though there are two pull-through sites: sites 11 and 16. Utilities are on the right side of your vehicle if you are pulling forward into the site. If you are backing into your site, the utilities will be on the driver’s side.

Tent and car campers are welcome. Please note, there are absolutely no fires permitted. Camper stoves are allowed.

There are two bathrooms (path located between sites 4 and 5 and across from site 11) for guests to use, which include showers. We would appreciate it if guests could clean up after themselves when using these facilities. No pet showers, please. These facilities are open year-round.

Is laundry service available at the Sanctuary?

There are no on-site laundry facilities, but there is a laundromat in town.

Will I be able to cook outside at the RV site?

Open flames (such as campfires and barbecues) are not permitted anywhere on Sanctuary property. Our climate is dry, and we cannot risk the safety of our animals.

Who should I call in an emergency after hours?

If you have an emergency after hours, please call the Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile at 435-644-3400.
