Volunteer Spotlight: Alexis Redmond
Last year, Alexis was looking around for an opportunity to volunteer at the Pet Adoption Center, but nothing t her schedule too well besides of ce work. Luckily she was able to get in to volunteer at the Kitten Nursery and was a great help there during Kitten Season 2015! Alexis still volunteers in the offices with us during the off-season, and her computer skills have been an invaluable help keeping our Volunteer Department running at full speed. We are so thankful to have such great and multi-talented volunteers like Alexis on our team!
BFAS: What is your favorite part about volunteering?
AR: I love helping the animals, that’s my favorite. I love knowing that I make a difference.
BFAS: Do you have any pets at home?
AR: I have two cats, both rescues.
BFAS: What do you do for fun outside of volunteering?
AR: I love to travel! I like to craft and hang out with my friends.
BFAS: Do you have a favorite adoption from the adoption center?
AR: Vanilla Ice is my favorite! We all fell in love with Vanilla Ice at the Kitten Nursery last year, and I got the chance to see him when he came in to get neutered. I got to meet his adoptive mom and share a picture of him when he was a baby. She was so excited to see it, so that was very cool.
BFAS: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
AR: That’s a hard one. Probably La Jolla, because I love the ocean.
BFAS: Aside from cats and dogs, do you have any other favorite animals?
AR: I love all animals! Except snakes.
BFAS: What is your favorite holiday?
AR: Christmas is my favorite. I love the act of giving.
BFAS: What is one piece of advice you have for other volunteers?
AR: I would say to take a deep breath and enjoy it! Know that you make a difference, no matter how big or small the contribution.
