Patty, tell us.....
What programs and projects do you volunteer with at Best Friends LA?
I volunteer with the dogs and enjoy playing with them in the yards and working with some of them in the dog skills classes. I've also done a few mobile adoptions and volunteered at the last NKLA Adoption event.
Why do you choose to volunteer with Best Friends LA?
I volunteer because I love dogs and the thought of so many being without homes, out on the streets ending up in shelters makes me want to help in whatever small way I can. The dogs also make me happy if I'm feeling a little down!
How long have you been a Best Friends LA volunteer?
I think it’s been close to 2 years since I started with Best Friends.
What type of fun stuff do you do when you're not volunteering? I work for a medical malpractice insurance company in Century City and have been there 29 years. I'm an Administrative Supervisor. I like to read and cook, go out to dinner with friends, and I go country dancing on Friday nights! I have 4 parrots & belong to a bird club that meets once a month...everyone brings their birds to socialize
Do you have a favorite story to share about an experience volunteering with Best Friends LA? Hmmm...hard to pick a favorite story. One would have to be a summer day when it was very warm and we still had the couch in the entryway by the volunteer entrance. I had taken Chad out to play in the swimming pool and he was absolutely soaked. He's so silly in the pool & always makes me laugh. We came in and sat on the couch, he laid there with his big wet head in my lap and practiced being a couch potato!
Do you have any pets?
I have an almost 12 yr old male border collie/pointer/terrier mix named Buster, a 10 yr old female German Shepherd named Brandy. I also have 4 parrots....a Catalina macaw, 2 African Greys, and a Cockatiel. They all keep me entertained and very busy!
