Hiring Range :This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits!

Position Summary :The Senior Specialist, Safety, supports the development and maintenance of a strong safety culture and advancement of organizational safety goals through the tracking and analysis of safety and incident reports, development and implementation of safety programs and procedures, development and delivery of targeted training, performance of audits and inspections to ensure OSHA and other regulatory compliance, provision of operational support for safety committee(s), and promotion of safe work practices at all levels of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage safety training programs, procedures, and records. Periodically report on training progress and work with department management to ensure compliance with internal procedures and OSHA regulatory safety training requirements.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety comply and procedures to eliminate, control, or mitigate injury and illness hazards and to comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Lead the performance of safety inspections at Kanab-based facilities and make recommendations for correcting identified unsafe conditions and work practices.
Liaise with other Best Friends’ facilities to develop safety protocols and to ensure compliance with both internal and governmental safety regulations and procedures.
Maintain hazard, incident, and investigation reports in accordance with departmental procedures and OSHA regulatory standards.
Organize and update files (electronically stored) and ensure compliance regarding all chemical SDSs. Print and update hard copies and binders and distribute according to locations.
Aggregate incident-related data from internal and external databases, facilitate the performance of incident investigations, and work with internal business partners to ensure the completion of identified corrective actions.
Manage the organizational driver list and individual driver files in accordance with internal procedures.
Serve as the point person for safety committees and lead the process of ensuring OSHA compliance with assigned corrective, preventive, or other actions.
Prepare special reports, memos and other documentation as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
Must be personally committed to the Mission and Core Values of Best Friends Animal Society.
Excellent technical writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Previous experience with OSHA compliance, safety practices, risk identification and prevention, and mitigation methods.
Previous experience creating written safety plans.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The ideal person for this position is a team player who is positive, proactive, personable, energetic, collaborative, and tactful.
Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. The work requires strong attention to detail and the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Flexibility and the ability to provide a positive approach to managing change and challenging situations.
Ability to maintain clear communication with staff on all levels.
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Ability to professionally advocate Best Friends’ position on key animal welfare issues.
Meet Best Friends Animal Society's driver qualification standards and have access to transportation to travel on organization business.
Overnight travel to visit Best Friends’ regional locations, attend trainings, conferences, and seminars.
