What do a biker, a boxer, a bartender and a golfer have in common? Other than presumably healthy testosterone levels, each possesses something small and hairy - and they're darn proud of it. They have cats.

The other thing these guys have in common is a manly desire to invite everyone out to Best Friends Animal Society's star-studded ACATemy Awards adoption event this Saturday inside the Hotel Palomar, 10740 Wilshire Blvd. at Selby Ave., 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This luminous and large-scale event will feature more than 200 adoptable cats from Los Angeles County shelters and Los Angeles Animal Services.

These cat guys (and they're not ashamed to say it), along with their little feline friends, are the stars of a hilarious, clever series of shorts called, "It's Okay to Be a Cat Guy."

Much Love Animal Rescue, the creator of the "It's Okay to Be a Cat Guy" campaign, is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society L.A. to spread the word about the ACATemy Awards and was generous enough to loan out their cat guys. At least two of the stars of the short films will be attending the event. Marc Robertson, the boxer, and Christopher Coppola, the biker, along with cat, Biker Cat-in matching Fedoras-will be on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos with adoring fans.

All cat guys, and gals, and anyone looking for their own Best Supporting Feline, are invited to attend the ACATemy Awards, complete with rain-proof "cat walk" and red carpet, and covered valet parking in front of the hotel. More information about the event can be found on the Best Friends L.A. events page at //la.bestfriends.org/events.

Mark Moll and Ghost Robot donated the creation of the Cat Guy shorts as part of Cat Guy Week, last week's adoption promotion designed to lure men - and women--into the local shelters to find a furry friend and save cats' lives. The ACATemy Awards has become an extension of this effort, featuring many of the fabulous felines who have so far been snubbed by potential pet parents.
