Best Friends Animal Society Launches Pet Resource Hubs in Partnership with Local Organizations to Help People and Pets in North Carolina
In the wake of the devastation left by Hurricane Helene, Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of cats and dogs in America's shelters in 2025, is working on the ground to support people and pets in need in communities in western North Carolina.
As part of continued hurricane relief efforts, Best Friends has supported the activation of Pet Resource Hubs in partnership with rescue groups and shelters throughout North Carolina that can provide essential supplies including pet food, cat litter, and generators for those who have lost everything. The hubs are operating out of the following locations:
Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue in Rutherford County

Asheville Veterinary Associates in Buncombe County managed by Sister Kitten Rescue

Yancey County Humane Society in Yancey County

The Pet Resource Hubs are being funded by the Best Friends disaster relief fund.
